2018 Status Update: March

update-page_FormPageTopImage

March was pretty crazy with work so I didn’t end up getting much reading done. I did get to read a little but not quite as much as I might have hoped. I have a busy reading schedule coming up over the next couple months, hopefully I can keep up with everything. I would say that work might calm down soon but that probably won’t end up being true. Anyways, here are some highlights from March for me:

-Love and Ruin by Paula McLain
-The Luck of the Bride by Janna MacGregor
Other than these titles I will be trying to catch up on the January titles that I missed (have about 5 left still), the couple books from March that I didn’t get to, and also hopefully fit in a couple more from the Backlog list (from 2017 and 2016) plus my friend Alex lent me a book to read! Lots coming up in April though, I have a lot of reviews scheduled and while I do have a good amount of time off of work coming up we also have A LOT of plans and I’m not sure there will be a lot of time for reading left over.

2018 Status Update: February

updateFebruary overall was a busy month. My husband and I had to make a very tough decision and say goodbye to our much loved Spotty (dog). We are still reeling a little from the loss but we are doing our best to appreciate the love currently surrounding us. I decided to use this reading challenge to help me decide which books to read from my backlog whenever I get the chance to do so – Bookish 2018 Reading Challenge

2017 Monthly Status Update: December

update

Well I did not exactly finish strong this year. December was a rough month between work, trying to get ready for the holidays and attending all our family functions and parties. I was able to take some time off after Christmas and I read for a day. But other than that I a m pretty delinquent on my schedule. I’ll be posting on this later today but I’m hoping to catch up on my backlog items during the next year (2018!). So below is my progress for December:

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 1
# pages read this month: 262
# books read year-to-date: 97
# pages read year-to-date: 28,921

Other Posts this month:

The Duke of Ice BLOG TOUR!!

Status of 2017 Reading Challenges:

  1. Finish 2016 ARC’s from NetGalley that I missed – Still have 26 more to go, plus going to have another 30ish from 2017.
  2. Participate in 2 reading challenges – During May I participated in the Bout of Books challenge and during August I participated in ARC August so this Goal is checked!
  3. Other goals:
    1. Write shorter reviews – I think I’m doing better at this, next year I’ll be trying something different with this next year too.
    2. Continue establishing relationships – I think I did a good job this year cultivating some relationships

Next Month TBR List:

I have a few that are on my hit list to definitely get to and then I’ll be filling in the list from my backlog as (or if) I have any additional time:

-The Dry by Jane Harper
-The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
-The Crown Prince’s Bride by Donna Alward
-In a Cottage In a Wood by Cass Green
-The Burial Society by Nina Sadowsky

2017 Monthly Status Update: November

thanksgiving

I was NOT a good reader this month. Between working way too many hours and the holidays and trying to actually be a human being sometimes, I fell really behind this month. I don’t have many reviews scheduled for December, and I’m hoping things will calm down at work (although I’ve been saying that for over a month) and I’ll be able to catch up a little. And I can’t wait for CHRISTMAS!!!! So below is my progress for November:

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 5
# pages read this month: 1,492
# books read year-to-date: 96
# pages read year-to-date: 28,659

Status of 2017 Reading Challenges:

  1. Finish 2016 ARC’s from NetGalley that I missed – Still have 26 more to go, plus going to have another 30ish from 2017. Shouldn’t sign up for any 2018 reviews and should just read my backlog LOL – but looks like its already too late for that
  2. Participate in 2 reading challenges – During May I participated in the Bout of Books challenge and during August I participated in ARC August so this Goal is checked!
  3. Other goals:
    1. Write shorter reviews – I think I’m doing better at this, this past month I was able to get out a few shorter ones
    2. Continue establishing relationships – I think I’m doing it, we’ll see how it goes I guess!

Next Month TBR List:

I only have a few scheduled reviews for December so I’m hoping to use any extra room to catch up on the backlog and also to read some books I’ve borrowed from friends and haven’t read (I am awful at that – don’t lend me books if you want them back). Below is my TBR list for December deadlines only though, I’ll keep it loose on the backlog catch up and see how things go. Make sure to check back regularly for some great reads this month as I catch up on my backlog!

-The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
-The Dry by Jane Harper (I’ll be participating in an online book discussion for this one, read it too so you can join in on the discussion!)

2017 Monthly Status Update: September

UPDATE IMAGE

Ugh. I can’t believe September is over. There were some great highlights this month. It was my birthday, and lots of celebrations ensued. There was also a LOT of work going on for me so there wasn’t as much time as I might have liked for reading. Luckily, at the beginning of the month I was still on vacation in Maine so I got a lot of reading done there. So below is my progress for September:

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 10
# pages read this month: 3,005
# books read year-to-date: 83
# pages read year-to-date: 24,761

Status of 2017 Reading Challenges:

  1. Finish 2016 ARC’s from NetGalley that I missed – Woot I read another one from the backlog so now I only have 26 to go! Slow but making progress. Unfortunately based on the way this year has gone I’m going to have another 30ish books to read from 2017 too.

I honestly can’t even think about my October to read list right now but it is going to make me anxious. Between all the hours I’ve been working and actually wanting to see my husband, family and friends, there hasn’t been too much time for reading. I do have some blog tour posts scheduled for October though, so those I’ll definitely be reading and then I’ll see where I might be able to fit in any additional ones. Some good reads coming up in the next month though!

2017 Monthly Status Update: August

city-update

August was a crazy hectic month for me. Work is picking up like crazy and between that, the Terryville Fair, and my family’s trip to Maine, there hasn’t been a moment to spare! Thankfully my time in Maine mostly consists of reading so I was still able to get a good amount of reading done and I even have a great jump off start to September too. So below is my progress for August:

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 9
# pages read this month: 2,958
# books read year-to-date: 73
# pages read year-to-date: 21,756

Favorite Books I Read:

Status of 2017 Reading Challenges:

  1. Finish 2016 ARC’s from NetGalley that I missed – Haven’t read any since last month so still have 27 to go (though stay tuned for September progress!)
  2. Participate in 2 reading challenges – During May I participated in the Bout of Books challenge and during this past month I participated in ARC August so this Goal is checked!
  3. Other goals:

    2. Continue establishing relationships – I think I’m doing it, we’ll see how it goes I guess!

Next Month TBR List:

I read all but two of the books on my TBR from last month plus a few more! Some of them I technically finished in September but I won’t include them at this point on my TBR for the next month since they’re already read. I actually don’t have many on the TBR list this month since I didn’t have a lot that I signed up for in September. I am hoping to get to some of the books on my backlog in addition to the ones listed below but I haven’t decided which ones yet. I will have to see where the wind takes me!!

-The Uncertain Season by Ann Howard Creel
-Pretend You’re Safe by Alexandra Ivy
-Every Boy’s Got One
-The Best Kind of People
-The Visitors
-The Scot Beds His Wife
-Select
-A Season of You

My birthday is coming up soon and I can’t wait to spend it with my nose in a book!! Happy reading everyone!!

ARC August Final check in and Wrap up post

arc-august2

So I’m a little behind with my check in! Between the Terryville Fair Aug 24-27 and then immediately leaving and spending all last week in Maine with no internet or electricity, and then only having one day after I got back to get ready for the work week, I haven’t had any time to catch up with my blog posts! I’m trying to catch up a little at a time every day this week. Anyways so here’s where I ended up on the ARC Reading challenge! I made good use of my time in Maine but didn’t get through as many as I had hoped:

ARC August 2017 – Check in #2 – 8/8-8/13

arc-august2

And so goes another week of ARC August 2017. This past week was also a fairly busy one for me, between work and trying to exercise and also trying to spend time with husband and family there doesn’t seem to be a lot of time leftover for reading lately. Even with Goal Day this past Saturday I was only able to read one book this past week. This month will continue to be a busy one for me but hopefully I will catch up while on vacation at the end of the month! Anyways, so here’s where I stand right now:

MY PROGRESS

-Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber – Read and reviewed
-Emerald Coast by Anita Hughes – Read and reviewed (Week 1)
-Leave the Night On by Laura Trentham – Read and reviewed (Week 1)

Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber – 3.75 stars

Plan for Upcoming Week

I have a busy week coming up with 4 exercise classes, 2 meetings, 2 days at a new client and a day planned for going to wineries with my mom and mother-in-law! Might have to break into my sleeping time to get some reading done but hopefully I’ll be able to fit it in somewhere! The book I’m reading right now (new release by Sandra Brown, out tomorrow!) is pretty good and I can’t wait to finish it and share my thoughts with all of you. Happy reading everyone!!

ARC August 2017 – Check in #1 – 8/1-8/7

arc-august2

So the first week of ARC August 2017 was slightly productive. I managed to read a good amount during the week but Friday my husband and I went on a winery trip and then Saturday and Sunday I was traveling and visiting with family. So the weekend was pretty busy, not much reading got done but many good times were had! So here’s where I stand:

MY PROGRESS

-Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber – Reading now
-Emerald Coast by Anita Hughes – Read and reviewed
-Leave the Night On by Laura Trentham – Read and reviewed
-If The Creek Don’t Rise by Leah Weiss
-Bad Girl Gone by Temple Mathews
-Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker
-Seeing Red by Sandra Brown
-13 Dates by Matt Dunn
-The Other Girl by Erica Spindler

-Pretend You’re Safe by Alexandra Ivy

Books Read August 1st – 7th

Emerald Coast by Anita Hughes – 1.0 stars
Leave The Night On by Laura Trentham – 3.5 stars

Plan for Upcoming Week

Work for me this week is going to be a bear so I’m not sure how much reading I’ll get done but I’m hoping to get a couple books in. Goal Day is thankfully this Saturday so that will give me a chance to get some solid reading devoted time (hopefully). We’ll see how it goes though, happy reading everyone!
