Bout of Books 23 Update – Day 1

3PKyE93

Yesterday (first day of the read-a-thon) was a busy day, as expected. I have a feeling the whole week will end up being like this but I worked like a 12 hour day yesterday, and I was just barely able to fit in the full 2 hours of reading. Really a half hour of it was technically on Tuesday since it was after midnight. I did the best I could though and I’m determined to keep at it and keep up with my busy schedule!

Update

Monday

Time spent reading: (Approximately) 2 hours

Stay tuned for continued progress made in tomorrow’s post on my Tuesday update!! Also today is MY day for the challenges. I had submitted a challenge idea, it was picked, and today is the day for it! Excited to be able to participate today especially.

Happy reading everyone!

Bout of Books 22 Wrap Up Post

LLnmmXw

So for one of my goals this year to help me focus more on reading and having concentrated time for reading, I decided to participate in all 3 Bout of Books reading challenges / read-a-thons this year! This was the second one and I didn’t exactly get a lot done but it was still ok amounts of successful.

Below were the goals that I had set for the week and my assessment with how I did on them.

Time Devoted to Reading

I plan to read at least 2 hours each day during the week, with hopefully additional hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Saturday I’m working and I have a bridal shower but then Sunday is pretty open so hopefully I can make up for any lost time on Saturday. I usually like to take a day or two off during the May reading challenge but this year I’m not able to because I’m too busy.
Things didn’t go quite according to plan – There was a lot of things that came up this week and also between work and social events and trying to get some down time in between there wasn’t a lot of time left for reading.

My Goals

My goals for this read-a-thon are that I’d like to participate in as much as I can: the daily posts plus reading every day.

I did not participate in any of the daily challenges but I did read every day (except Sunday which I took off).

Books to Read

Overall this was not the greatest week of reading for me but I was able to get a little reading done at least. Looking forward to the next one in August!

2018 Status Update: April

GATE-Updates

WOOT April was a great month! I had a bunch of weekends away, some time off from work, and I spent a lot of time having fun with friends and family! I was able to get a good amount of reading done due to the quilting retreat I attended (reading retreat for me) and I even got to read some from the backlog this past month. Anyways, here are some highlights from April for me:

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 12
# pages read this month: 4,160
# books read year-to-date: 36
# pages read year-to-date: 11,424

Favorite Books I Read this Month:

My Lady’s Choosing by Kitty Curran & Larissa Zageris – 4.75 stars
All the Ever Afters by Danielle Teller – 4.75 stars

Other Posts this month:

Bout of Books 21 Wrap Up Post

cc4sUlk

So for one of my goals this year to help me focus more on reading and having concentrated time for reading, I decided to participate in all 3 Bout of Books reading challenges / read-a-thons this year! The first one was luckily scheduled for this past week which is before my busy season at work officially starts.

Below were the goals that I had set for the week and my assessment with how I did on them.

Time Devoted to Reading

I plan to read at least 2 hours each day during the week, with hopefully additional hours on Friday. Also the Saturday during Bout of Books I have Goal Day planned but then I have other family plans in the evening so I’m hoping for a good 4 hours of solid reading. And then Sunday I don’t have anything planned other than house work so hopefully a solid 4 hours that day as well.
Things didn’t go quite according to plan – Goal Day for Saturday got moved because of a family function and due to prep work and chores I barely got to read at all Saturday. Plus a couple social functions kept me away from reading during the week. Overall I ended up reading close to 16 hours this week though which I’ll call a success.

My Goals

My goals for this read-a-thon are that I’d like to participate in as much as I can: the daily posts plus reading every day.

I did participate in 3 out of the 7 daily challenges and I did read every day.

Books to Read

Overall this was a great week of concentrated reading for me and I am glad I was able to get so much accomplished! Looking forward to the next one in May!

Bout of Books 21 Update – Day 2

cc4sUlk

Tuesday wasn’t a great day for the challenge for me, between work and a meeting I had at night I didn’t have any time to read other than bed time, only ended up reading just over an hour before I fell asleep. So anyways my Tuesday’s progress is below:

Update

Tuesday

Time spent reading: (Approximately) 1.25 hours
Number of pages I’ve read today: 105 pages
Total number of pages I’ve read: 323 pages
Books read: Started Like Broken China
Challenges: I did the 2018 Goals post prompt for Tuesday, posted it on Twitter here

Stay tuned for continued progress made in tomorrow’s post on my Wednesday update!!

2017 Monthly Status Update: June

giphy.gif

June wasn’t my best month for reading. I had a lot going on between work and family life and I’ve just been so tired this month. Which unfortunately means I’m falling pretty far behind schedule, I will have a lot of 2017 releases to catch up on later this year in addition to my 2016 ones I missed. So anyways, here is my progress for the month of May!

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 5
# pages read this month: 1,904
# books read year-to-date: 53
# pages read year-to-date: 15,577

Favorite Books I Read:

41RTFNre+VL

The End of Temperance Dare by Wendy Webb – 4.5 stars

Other Posts this month:

Duke with Benefits EXCERPT BLITZ!!
Say Yes to the Scot RELEASE BLITZ!!

Status of 2017 Reading Challenges:

  1. Finish 2016 ARC’s from NetGalley that I missed – Haven’t read any since last month so still have 27 to go
  2. Participate in 2 reading challenges – During May I participated in the Bout of Books challenge. Next one is scheduled for August
  3. Other goals:
    1. Write shorter reviews – I think I’m doing better at this, this past month I was able to get out a few shorter ones
    2. Continue establishing relationships – I think I’m doing it, we’ll see how it goes I guess!

Next Month TBR List:

My rollover list from prior months was getting too long so this list is  refreshed version! I didn’t get through all the TBR on last month’s list, I’m just realizing that catching up on the 13 books I missed may not be realistic LOL! This is just my base list, I’m hoping to get through a lot more than this but I go through the decisions on a week by week basis.

-Say Yes to the Scot by Various authors (half-way through this one now)
-Storming the Castle by Arianna Hart
-The Duke of Defiance by Darcy Burke
-I Have Never by Camilla Isley
-Together by Linda Lael Miller
-Duke with Benefits by Manda Collins
-Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown
-Hello Sunshine by Laura Dave

Happy reading everyone and Happy 4th of July weekend!!
