October Reading Challenge: Booktober Reading Bookish Bingo!!

Bookish_-October-Bingo-700x394

Ahhhhh I love book bingo reading challenges! And combined with my OVERARCHING love for the Halloween Holiday and all things (lightly) spooky, I am so excited about this reading challenge this month. Work will be busy for sure but I’m hoping to get a lot of reading done still. Anyways here is the Bingo sheet for this month, courtesy of Bookish:

Can’t wait to dig in and get reading! I’ll check back in at the end of the month on how my bingo sheet turned out. Happy October everyone!

2019 Monthly Status Update: September

Book-Update-4

Where the heck did September go! Between my increasing work schedule and a big birthday bash, September flew by in the blink of an eye. Luckily I was still able to get a good amount of reading done. Back in late June I discovered the Fated Mates podcast, I am deeply addicted to both the podcast and the Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series – which at this point I’m unfortunately caught up with all published books. I’m really looking forward to reading some of the Fated Mates Season 2 books though. I’m trying to stick with my scheduled reading also as much as I can but at the same time I just want to read what I want! Especially this month I want lots of spooky reads!! So anyways, here are some highlights from September for me:

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 11
# pages read this month: 4,477
# books read year-to-date: 75
# pages read year-to-date: 26,716

Favorite Books I Read this Month:

I’ve been devouring Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series and have loved almost all those books so far (I’m caught up as of now and can’t wait for the next one to come out!). Other than that I also really enjoyed:

Other Posts this month:

Nothing else for September

Next Month TBR List:

Not many on the scheduled TBR list for next month, but I’m pretty excited about the ones that I do have on the list:

-The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller
-Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren
-The Duke’s Stolen Bride by Sophie Jordan
-The Lady’s Deception by Susanna Craig

Luckily this leaves lots of room for catching up on my backlog reading from books I missed and also maybe a couple fun ones! My work schedule is getting a bit CRAZY but I’m trying to manage some reading time on the weekends at least. And it is randomly HOT today so I’m hoping to get back to the crisp fall weather and getting cozy with a good book. Happy reading everyone!

Plan for Upcoming Week

This week is going to be hectic, that’s for sure. I was off all last week for vacation so I’ll have a lot to catch up on at work. I’m just going to try and push through and keep at it – I’ve so far been mostly successful at balancing my productivity between work and reading and other over the last month so I’m hoping I can keep balancing and keep reading a lot this month! Happy reading everyone!

February Reading Challenge – Romance Novel Bookish Bingo

Romance-Novel-Bingo-700x393

So as part of my 2019 Goals I wanted to participate in some Bookish Bingo reading challenges for certain months, one of which was February! And (exciting news!) I just checked and Bookish is doing a Romance novel book bingo in addition to their regular reading bingo for this month. Which is great for me since I end up reading a lot of romance, and also I’d love to focus on romance novels during the most romantic month of the year (allegedly)! PLUS I’m still helping to judge novels for a Romance Reader’s Choice Awards, so those will all count towards my bingo! My biggest challenge I think is going to be finding time to read outside of work – February is going to be (excuse my French) a shit-tastic month for my work schedule this year and I may have to enact my “sleep budget” schedule in order to get my reading done. I’m really looking forward to participating in this month’s reading bingo though!

And here we begin on another year. The first month of 2019 is over and, while it wasn’t my strongest reading month, I did get a solid amount of reading done. I have a lot of reading coming up over the next month too, which I’m not sure I’ll 100% be able to keep up with due to my work schedule, but I’m going to do my best!  So anyways, here are some highlights from December for me:

Monthly Stats:
# books read this month: 7
# pages read this month: 2,117
# books read year-to-date: 7
# pages read year-to-date: 2,117

Favorite Books I Read this Month:

-The Night Olivia Fell by Christine McDonald

Looking forward to the romantic month of February and being as productive both at home and at work as I possibly can! Happy reading!

So for one of my goals this year to help me focus more on reading and having more fun with my reading schedule, I am participating in two Bout of Books reading challenges plus a handful of other challenge this year! I’ve participated in these reading challenges in the past couple years and I’m usually able to get a good amount of reading done.

I’m hoping to be able to find enough time for this reading challenge to get a couple of books read. Things are picking up at work, so it my be a little tougher during the week, but I have GOAL DAY next Saturday and I should be able to make up some time then.

For those of you who don’t really know much about Bout of Books, it is basically a week-long, no pressure read-a-thon that has been going strong since 2011! Here is a description directly from the Bout of Books blog:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 24 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

The Bout of Books Read-a-Thon was created by Amanda @ On a Book Bender on a complete whim in August 2011. It took on a life of its own and was such a hit that Amanda decided to do it again and turn it into a somewhat regular occurrence.

  • Bout of Books is a week long read-a-thon, usually from 12:01am on a Monday through 11:59pm on a Sunday in whatever time zone you are in.
  • It is low pressure, meaning participants are only asked to push themselves to read more than they normally would during any given week. There is no competition between readers.
  • How much time a reader wants, and can commit, to read, tweet, or network with fellow bloggers is left to individual preference. All challenges and giveaways are optional.
  • Networking with fellow bloggers is actively encouraged, though never required.
  • Use Twitter to post updates throughout the read-a-thon. Everyone will be tweeting with the #boutofbooks hashtag.

I’ve been reading pretty close to on schedule lately and I’m hoping to continue that trend over the next week!

Time Devoted to Reading

I plan to read at least 1.5 hours each day during the week (except for Friday I think), with hopefully additional hours on Saturday and Sunday. Friday I’ll be working all day and then we have a work trip planned trip to the casino Friday night! This does mean that I probably won’t get much reading done on Friday but I’m looking forward to letting off a little steam with my coworkers!

My Goals

My goals for this read-a-thon are that I’d like to participate in as much as I can: the daily posts plus reading every day. I’d really like to just focus on getting back into reading. I picked it up again over the holidays but I’ve lost the schedule again with how crazy the last week or so has been.

Books to Read

List is a little ambitious but with Saturday and Sunday focused on reading who knows how much I’ll get accompished! I would’ve loved to take the whole week off and just read non-stop but work has been consistently busy since over a year ago, plus things are starting to pick up in preparation for our “busy season.” Anyways, I’m really looking forward to this week-long reading challenge devoted to reading ! If you do want to join make sure to add yourself to the page’s Sign Up Post by Tuesday, January 8th at 11:59pm! Happy reading!

Frances Snowden can hardly believe her good fortune when she’s whisked away from her boring life by her sister who is now a duchess. David Langley, Earl of St. Ives, is resigned to marrying the dull woman his parents chose when he was a child. His future is suddenly, and happily, diverted when he encounters a captivating young woman who shows him everything he’s been missing. June was the best. Well, the later part of the month was anyways. The first weekend was quilting retreat where I did get some good reading done. The following couple weeks I was crazy busy at work so I didn’t get any work done. But then! I went away to my family’s house in Maine for a week and I read non-stop and it was the best!
